The Police Line Up Last UK Gig

In good news, tickets aren't too much of a Sting...

As anybody who has ever been within earshot of the Skinny stereo on one particular afternoon of the week will tell you, the spirit of Tommy Vance lives on strong. So the news that our Classic Rock Thursday heroes The Police are about to disband again - having never played a date in our beloved homeland since they reformed last year - bought quite some lump to the gullet.

Now, following the recent announcement that Sting and co will play their final show at Madison Square Garden in New York on the 7th of August, it appears that the last time they'll ever (ever, ever?) play the UK will be at Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park, London at the end of the month. Appropriately, Sting and co will be accompanied on the bill by pioneers of similar stature, ranging through Eric Clapton, Mick Jones of the Clash (appearing with Carbon Silicon), the Stranglers and the Charlatans who will be rubbing shoulders with Eddi Reader, KT Tunstall, perennial Buckley-philes Starsailor and many more. The event takes place on Saturday 29th - Sunday 30th of June and full details can be found here.

Oh, you want a video? Here's footage of Sting and co playing Message In a Bottle live for the first time. Forgive Sting if he looks a bit out of it here, it was the 70s.
