T Break opened its mailbox for submissions this week, inviting unsigned musicians of all persuasions to submit demos for a shot at playing the T Break tent at T in the Park in Balado this July. Founded in 1996, T Break’s remit has always been to showcase the current Scottish music scene and provide an early foot in the door for many a new act – which in the past has famously included Biffy Clyro and Snow Patrol.

Deciding which artists will be given the chance to advance their careers the T Break way, this year's judging panel consists of DJs, journalists, bloggers and promoters from various platforms across the Scottish music media.

After some intense discussion amongst the panel, 16 acts will be awarded a slot at the festival. There's no shortage of surprises across the weekend, with established talents being invited to play the same stage as the winners that successfully make the bill, in previous years this has included the likes of including The Twilight Sad, Frightened Rabbit, We Were Promised Jetpacks and Sparrow and the Workshop.

The rules of entry are as follows:

If you’re over 18, live in Scotland, are currently unsigned and have recorded demos of original music then head to www.tennents.com/tbreak for full details on how to submit your demos. Any genre of music can be submitted before the deadline on Monday 11 April 2011.

Forum craic: Which unsigned Scottish talent would you like to see grace the stage at T Break this year?

T in the Park 2011 takes place in Balado, 8-10 July
