Stooges' Guitarist Found Dead

Ron Asheton, guitarist with proto-punk outfit The Stooges, has been found dead at his home in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the age of 60.

According to this local news resource, police were alerted by Asheton's personal assistant when he'd failed to check in after several days, only to find him dead at home late on Monday night.

No cause of death has been confirmed, though detectives at the scene do not suspect foul play.

Asheton's death brings a tragic curtain down on The Stooges, who, alongside brother Scott and Iggy Pop, he had reconvened to tour and record with in recent years.

A sad day in music.
