Coldplay (And Pals) to Hit Hampden in 2009

Feature by Sarah Nisbet | 25 Nov 2008

Those perennial soft-rock kings Coldplay have just announced three massive UK stadium gigs for 2009, including a date in Glasgow.

The band will perform live at three dates across the UK in early autumn next year, playing in Manchester, London and Glasgow (Hampden Park, 16 Sep). Support comes from Martin's chum - big Hova himself - Jay-Z, who by that time will have released The Blueprint III.

The announcement was made by lead singer Chris Martin to mark the band’s latest release, Viva la Vida – Prospekt's March edition. The two-disc special combines the original album with a second disc including eight previously unreleased tracks, which will also be made available on EP.

Coldplay will kick-off their sold-out 2008 tour this weekend on Saturday, 29 Sep at the Sheffield Arena. Tickets for the newly announced dates in 2009 are priced £55 and £50 and are available from www.ticketmaster.co.uk, www.gigsinscotland.com and by calling 08444 999 990 or 08444 818727.
