BRMC Sack Drummer... Again

Nick Jago gets his marching orders, but the band insist it's temporary

Drummer Nick Jago has been given his walking papers from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club for the second time. The band revealed via their MySpace that Jago has been given temporary marching orders so that he can focus on his solo project.

It’s not the first time Jago has been cast out of the band. Whilst recording 2005 album Howl, he was given the boot due to drug and alcohol problems, before being readmitted. The upcoming tour, to support last year’s Baby 81, will see Leah Shapiro of Dead Combo step up to the stool. A statement from the band reads: "His heart and all his energy and attention are on his own solo project and he needs to see that through. We welcome his singing and songwriting [strangely, no mention of his drumming here - Ed] in BRMC, but his focus, at least at the present time, is on doing his own thing and we wish him the best."

Whether Jago will again join with his former band mates post-tour remains to be seen, but here’s a live recording of the classic Fault Line to soak up while you wonder.
