Terrorism

Terrorism
(RSAMD Drama)
It's difficult to critique 'Terrorism'. Not because it is overly complex – it's easy enough to talk in circles about complexity. For example: 'Terrorism' consists of six vignettes that share characters and thematic intent, which might have something to do with terrorism of one kind or another. Or maybe that's just a giant joke on the part of the playwrights and the stories are actually completely unrelated, and we're only supposed to think they are because that's how theatre usually works; this seems fairly pointless, but you can never underestimate experimental theatre's capacity for pointlessness. And if it's the case that this really is just an absurdist's wet dream, maybe it's not pointless after all, because terrorism is about destroying normalcy, and this certainly destroys theatre's norms... and so on and so forth. No, it's difficult to critique because even after patiently – and stupidly, it turns out – hoping it would eventually go somewhere or mean something, I still haven't got a fucking clue what this play is about.
