Zac Efron needs secret tunnel for filming

Zac Efron used a secret tunnel to get from his hotel to the set of his latest film.

The teen heartthrob was looking forward to "peace and seclusion" when he flew to the Isle of Man, off the coast of Britain, to shoot Me and Orson Welles, but ended up being mobbed by crazed fans. The crowds that followed him were so bad, the 22-year-old actor was forced to use a secret passage from his hotel to the adjacent theatre where filming took place to make sure he got to work on time.

"I didn't even know where the Isle of Man was," the star told Cover Media. "But it sounded small and I was looking forward to the seclusion. You have no idea how appealing seclusion is to me. But it turned out there was a whole lot of people there and they made me feel very welcome. I couldn't go outside that much. We had a tunnel that led from our hotel to the theatre we filmed in and I just never went outside."

Zac's co-star Claire Danes laughed when she recalled the hysteria that surrounded Zac during the three weeks they were filming on the remote island.

"They really did love him," she said. "I think he got the best welcome out of all of us!"
