Pete Wentz "killed off" his imaginary friend when he was a child.

The Fall Out Boy singer was just 10 years old when his fictional childhood companion had a tragic "accident" in the playground. Now 30 and on tour in Australia, Pete regrets "man slaughtering" his pal because he is lonely and homesick.

He wrote on his Twitter account: "I can't lie. Have had a blast but can't wait to get home tomorrow. It's at these points alone a hotel room where I wish I hadn't killed off my imaginary friend at age 10 - I'm sure he'd be laughing at all my jokes."

When asked how his "friend" had died, Pete responded: "He had an 'accident' on the jungle gym- manslaughter."

Pete has been struggling to cope with being away from wife Ashlee Simpson and 11-month-old son Bronx while touring with his band.

Fortunately, his friends Joel and Benjamin Madden have also been in Australia, touring with their group Good Charlotte. Pete wrote: "Sushi with Benji and Joel Madden - feel less homesick with friends around."
