P. Diddy is planning the “party of the century” to celebrate his 40th birthday.

The music mogul – real name Sean Combs - has reserved the Grand Ballroom at New York’s lavish Plaza Hotel to mark the milestone on Thursday.

Diddy has commissioned celebrity event planner Bronson Van Wyck to transform the venue into a “fantasy dreamland”, complete with a maze, fashion shows and performance art installations.

He has hired lighting expert Bentley Meeker to provide “dim and sexy” mood lighting for the event. Meeker will also put on a display he has described as a “blizzard of light”.

Queen Latifah, Russell Simmons, Spike Lee, Zac Posen and Lil’ Kim are expected to attend the party, where they will be entertained by a “very special musical guest”, reports the New York Post newspaper.
