Nicole Richie has been released from hospital.

The TV star was taken to Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to receive treatment for pneumonia earlier this week. Her partner Joel Madden, with who she has two children, has now confirmed she has been allowed to leave the clinic.

He wrote on his band Good Charlotte’s website: “Don't worry all is well and we are home with no problems.”

Joel was touring Australia with the group when Nicole first fell ill. She initially thought she just had a cold, but began to worry it might be something more serious when she struggled to look after 22-month-old daughter Harlow and son Sparrow, two months.

Joel also wrote about how worrying it was to find Nicole so ill when he returned to America, saying: “So I stepped off the plane after a month out of the country, and basically went straight to the hospital for the week. I was supposed to go into the studio to finish the last few vocals for the record, but that had to wait. Family first. Just getting home from the hospital to a healthy family is enough for me but to do what I love is the icing on the cake.”

It is understood Nicole fell ill as early as November 9, with the 28-year-old even writing about feeling unwell on Twitter.

She said: “Ok cold, it's been 6 days. Lets part ways graciously and keep it moving (sic).”
