Kate Moss has been blasted for using a pro-anorexia slogan.

The British supermodel was asked about mottos she lives by in an interview with WWD, and replied she liked the slogan, “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.” The comment has been branded “irresponsible” by eating disorder campaigners, who revealed it was one of the key phrases people with eating disorders use.

Katie Green, who is a UK size 12 and has modelled for lingerie firm Ultimo, said: “There are 1.1 million eating disorders in the UK alone. Kate Moss’ comments are likely to cause many more. If you read any of the pro-anorexia websites they go crazy for quotes like these. Millions of girls aspire to be like Kate Moss. These comments are shocking and irresponsible.”

Later in the interview, Moss appeared to realise her comments could be deemed offensive. The 35-year-old model told the interviewer: “You try and remember that one, but it never works.”

UK TV presenter Denise Van Outen was also angered by the comments. She is currently pregnant, and said she felt the need to speak out to show not all famous people are obsessed with their figures. Van Outen has previously championed healthy eating and joined a campaign to stop girls resorting to faddy diets.

She said: “Kate Moss is talking out of her Size Zero backside. She knows the impact her comments will have on vulnerable young people. After I have my baby I’ll lose weight the sensible way – by healthy eating and exercise.”

Moss has not commented on the reports.
