Joel Madden hits back at affair accusation

Joel Madden is furious after receiving an anonymous text accusing him of having an affair.

The Good Charlotte rocker – who has two children with partner Nicole Richie - was horrified to receive the secretive missive, which also alleged he had paid a model for sex.

Unsure how to respond to the claim, he wrote on Twitter: “Just got a random text from anonymous person. Shall I share?”

Joel then decided to show readers of his page what had been written, in the hope he would receive some advice on how to respond.

The text message read: “Why would you pay Sammi Maben 5k to have an affair w/ you at the Beverly Hills Hotel? You might want to answer honestly b4 it comes out.... Sammi has already told us who and when. Did U sleep with her Or not? She's explained the entire incident in detail & we need to know the truth Please advise immediately. It will go away only if you explain to us what happened.”

Joel is now unsure whether the message is someone’s idea of a joke or a deliberate attempt to scare him into handing over cash to stop the story leaking.

He wrote: “Ok. What was that?? Is this person wearing a trench coat txting me from some dark phone both? I'm tempting to post the number for u guys (sic).”
