Sir Ian McKellen has urged people to “break windows” to fight for gay marriage.

The openly-homosexual actor is outraged by the anti-civil union movement in America and has publicly encouraged his supporters to use any means possible to oppose “the enemy”. He has even advocated violence, if it is necessary,
to convince the public to support gay rights.

“We're discovering who the enemy are, and I do think we do have an enemy,” he said during an interview on Los Angeles’ IMRU Radio. “It means that everyone's got to go on fighting. And in what way you fight, well, it depends who you are. You can write a letter, you can talk about it to your congressperson, you can talk to people in bars. Or you can go on marches, or you can go and break windows.”

It’s not the first time the 70-year-old actor has campaigned for gay rights on the radio. In 1988 he came out on British radio to protest against a local government proposal which prevented people from “promoting homosexuality” as a legitimate family unit.
