Giles Deacon doesn’t think fashion needs to be “torture”.

The fashion designer is famous for his quirky outfits, but insists they’re not difficult to create. He denies garments have to be “stupidly hard” to be considered beautiful.

“I aim to make clothes fun, sexy and comfortable in equal measure,” he said. “From a design perspective, I don’t agree that things have to be tortured or difficult to be good. They have more life when they’re simple, silly and random.”

Giles is committed to designing comfortable clothes because he thinks comfort is the key to looking good.

“Style and presence go hand in hand,” he told Britain’s Glamour magazine. “They are linked by confidence. You get confidence by feeling comfortable and thinking you look good in what you’re wearing. You can rarely be uncomfortable and look good.”
