Gerard Butler can't accept he has turned 40

Scottish hunk Gerard Butler reached the landmark 40 last Friday and is still in shock. Although he isn't happy about getting older, Gerard did enjoy throwing a big birthday party.

"The celebrations won't stop until I reach 50. I can't hear the word 40 right now," Gerard told British show GMTV. "I have heard it's the new 21 and if that's true I will learn to live with it."

Gerard has been romantically linked to Hollywood stars including Jennifer Aniston, Lindsay Lohan and Rosario Dawson and insists he has no idea why people are so obsessed with who he is dating. Despite the intense interest in his private life, Gerard revealed he has managed to spend quality time with women in secret.

"Even if I have just spoken to someone people think I am going out with them, it's getting ridiculous," he fumed. "The crazy thing is I have had a couple of relationships during this that no one knew about. Meanwhile, there is speculation about people I have nothing going on with. So it has been funny to witness this."
