Errol Douglas loves a bit of fringe

Errol Douglas says fringes are the best way to update long hairstyles.

The British hairdresser - who owns a salon in London's exclusive Knightsbridge district - believes changing or adding a fringe can freshen up a look and get you on trend for this season's hottest cuts.

He told Cover Media: "You can make your hair look modern just by adding a fringe or changing your fringe. If you have a fringe swept to one side, think about shortening the length and having a full fringe. It is bang up to date and will make you look five years younger."

Meanwhile, Britain's most-celebrated stylists have been revealing their top tips for the perfect Christmas party hairstyles.

While Errol believes you adding a fringe will impress at a festive bash, Jamie Stevens is convinced crimping is the only style to be seen this year.

Jamie is a regular stylist on TV show How to Look Good Naked and believes plaits and kinky locks are the best way to make a statement. He said: "Wash your hair the night before the party. Put it in a plait and leave it overnight. Go to work with your hair still in the plait. When you are getting ready for the party undo the plait and it will give your hair amazing volume.

"Crimping sections of your hair is also a great look this season."

Other tips for fantastically-festive long locks include opting for a side plait, taking inspiration from Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole.
