Comedian Eddie Izzard spent his summer holidays running 43 marathons in 51 days in an attempt to improve his health. It worked so well, the 47-year-old is now convinced he’ll live for at least another 130 years.

“I ran 43 marathons so I’d have an excuse to live to 183,” he told The Times newspaper. “I’m thinking of my peak fitness age as being 90.”

In his quest for an extended life, Eddie has declared war on chocolate and other sweet treats. He survives on flavoured energy gel, and bans unhealthy products from his house.

“I have to stay away from sweets,” he said. “Because if I could, I would just sit down and spend the rest of my life with a straw stuck in a 15kg bag of sugar, sucking. They just… mmmm.”
