Cindy Crawford says modelling is like working in an office.

The supermodel has likened strutting the catwalk to working in any other industry, insisting that while it looks glamorous it can be tense. While many think famous models must develop close friendships, Cindy insists most get to know the crews who work on their sets better than each other.

“I always say it’s like in any office. There was everything. There were real friendships; there was some jealousy; there were some you were kiss-kiss with, but you wouldn’t tell them your deepest, darkest secrets,” she explained. “Truth is, you were probably closer to the hair and make-up guys or photographers because you only really saw other models when you were doing the shows, twice a year.”

Cindy was one of the best-known supermodels in the 90s. She loved working in the industry, but can now afford to be choosier about the jobs she accepts. If something does not feel right, or if she doesn’t like the product, the 43-year-old is now happy to turn down work. “If I don’t like the job, I won’t do it. I say to my agent, don’t even tell me how much it’s worth. I don’t want to take a whole ton of money and not want to give myself properly to the job,” she told Britain’s The Times newspaper.

“All models have worn things we might not want to wear in our own life. But the job of the model is to believe in it once you have it on. You have to work yourself up to it – and if you can’t, you shouldn’t do the job.”
