Anna Friel was almost splattered with vomit while performing onstage.

The stunning actress was minutes into a performance of Breakfast at Tiffany's in London's West End when she heard screams of disgust coming from the front row.

Confused, she kept singing as several horrified people were ushered out of the theatre, dripping with the foul-smelling liquid.

"It was quite a commotion," the 33-year-old actress - who plays New York socialite Holly Golightly in the musical - told Smooth Radio. "I thought it was late-comers who shouldn't have been allowed in, but it turned out someone had vomited from the balcony over six people and they were being escorted out to be cleaned up.

"I carried on singing but almost lost my way as there was such a noise coming from the seats. I almost lost it but I'm proud I kept my concentration."

The six sick-splattered audience members were scrubbed by theatre staff and were clean enough to return to their seats for the second half of the performance.

Even the ailing perpetrator felt well enough to return to their seat to watch the end of the play.
