Amy Winehouse is desperate to have some of her tattoos removed.

The 26-year-old singer is believed to have consulted doctors about getting rid of several of her etchings, including a horseshoe she has on her bicep and several nude girls she has on her forearms.

"She wants the horseshoe removed because she says it hasn't proved to be very lucky at all," explained a source. "And also the vintage pin-up girls on her arms - they remind her of when she was in a bad place."

Amy had many of her tattoos done when she was in the grip of an addiction to alcohol and illegal drugs. She is now receiving treatment to get over her problems, and wants to wipe the slate clean by ridding her body of things which remind her of her past.

Earlier this year, it was reported she was considering having an inking of her now ex-husband Blake Fielder Civil's name above her left breast removed.

However, the pocket design emblazoned with the word Blake is still on show.

Amy's decision to get rid of some of her tattoos comes amid claims she is becoming obsessed with plastic surgery. She recently had her boobs boosted from a 32B to a 32D, and is now said to be considering a nose job and bum implants.

The source added: "The worrying thing is she has an addictive personality, which is obvious when you look at her problems with drugs and her gym obsession - she's been going three or four hours a day lately! Now it appears she's turning to cosmetic surgery to feed her compulsions."
