We The Faceless - Isle Of Dogs

Single Review by Ryan Drever | 03 Aug 2009
Single title: Isle Of Dogs
Artist: We The Faceless
Label: Self-released
Release date: Sep 28

Isle Of Dog's dirty, chugging riff, sluggishly bursts into life like a fat man hopping through a ring of fire. It is meaty, I'll give it that, but once you get past the initial impact, the bones start to show. It maintains a solid groove for the most part, locked in tight by a pounding drum and bass combo, but it gradually peters out before a fairly tame solo tries to carry the weight, rather unsuccessfully. The repetitive intro/chorus lick is just obnoxious enough to get stuck in your brain, but is unfortunately far from a saving grace for this London-based Quartet.
