The Like - June Gloom

a modest piece that recalls the more sleeping-pill shaped bands like Bush rather than the hate-fuelled legends

Single title: June Gloom
Artist: The Like
Label: Geffen
Revivals, revivals; after the nauseating post-punk flood it's time for a new old genre to over-exploit. If Geffen get their way, next in line is the one bastardised by men with a Jesus-complex and a love for nu-metal, Grunge! First up for the case are three nineteen year-old girls from L.A., The Like. Armed with a good hype for 2006, they start the quest with debut single June Gloom, a modest piece that recalls the more sleeping-pill shaped bands like Bush rather than the hate-fuelled legends. For people with good taste it's also contaminated with populist ambitions a' la Miss Lavigne which will probably fit the mainstream like a glove. [Chris Nordeng]
The single is released March 6.
