The Kooks - She Moves in Her Own Way

a veritable Frankenstein's monster stitch-up

Single Review by Nick Mitchell | 15 Jul 2006

Thanks to the Radio 1 seal of approval, The Kooks have gone from unknown tousle-haired Brighton kids to hyped-to-the-rafters tousle-haired Brighton kids in the space of months. Although they claim to be forging their own path in guitar-based pop music, new single She Moves in Her Own Way is a veritable Frankenstein's monster stitch-up of everyone from The Zutons, to Razorlight to The Kinks. Not such a bad pillaging then, but the new song lacks the hooks of Naïve or the drive of You Don't Love Me, and is a clear foot-off-the-accelerator moment during The Kooks' stellar ascent.
