Perhaps the clunkiest band name I've read in a while, but you can't always judge a cook by his lover. However, this single is lyrically poor light funk, with overdone wah and flange effects, topped by bland female vocals. An acoustic guitar solo mid-way through feels a little kitsch, ringing slightly of the soundtrack to a secondary school 'Science Is Cool' video from the early 90s. The male-led second track, with an awkward, out of place Jamaican dancehall vocal sample is similarly off putting. While it remains tasteless to these ears, it might work perfectly on midday commercial radio. [Jamie Scott]
