The Cribs - Men's Needs

Wichita Recordings certainly seem to be getting behind Wakefield's Jarman siblings this time around, with their distressingly identical mugs turning up everywhere from MySpace to bus shelters. The Eighties-style slickness and over-produced guitar riff certainly hint at a refreshed confidence (and let's face it, they were never the shy, retiring types) but for many of us the demise of their homemade grunginess will be cause for distress. Perhaps not 100% as tuned in to the nation's masculine needs as they thought. [Dan Coxon]
