Sound of Guns - Architects

Listing Led Zep, the Verve and the Rolling Stonesamong their influences, Liverpool five-piece Sound of Guns are kitted out for rock. Coming in at the three minute mark and laden with riffs, gravelly Walkmen-esque vocals and simple on-beat drums designed to elicit a foot stamp, one could say it’s the perfect radio-friendly anthem. The problem, however, is apparent from the opening passage, not so much reminiscent as uncannily akin to Foo Fighters’ In Your Honor- an issue recurrent throughout. As accomplished and well-produced as this effort may be, epic, stadium sounds have been worked and reworked countless times before.
