Poppy & The Jezebels - Nazi Girls/Painting New York On My Shoes

excruciating punk-pop pastiche

Single Review by Billy Hamilton | 12 Nov 2006

Poppy & The Jezebels are only fifteen. That's right, fifteen, and they're already supporting the Horrors, dressing like blood-thirsty Soho vamps and singing about Nazi Girls. Now it's easy to blame the parents or some crack ravaged supermodel for foolishly leading them down the murky path of rock n roll excess but maybe, just maybe, this is their destiny? Well, this flimsy, lolly-licking double A-side suggests not. Resembling two pre-pubescent Blondie lullabies, each track flutters its way through excruciating punk-pop pastiche without a moment of youthful inspiration. For ones so young, Poppy & The Jezebels offer absolutely nothing new. [Billy Hamilton]

This single is out on October 23.
