No. 1 Son- 27

lo-fi' can categorize a band as part of a genre but can also work as an excuse for extraordinarily poor production

Single Review by Chris Nordeng | 15 Feb 2006
Single title: 27
Artist: No. 1 Son
Label: Xtra Mile Recordings
The term lo-fi is misused all too often. It can categorize a band as part of a genre but can also work as an excuse for extraordinarily poor production. The case with this offering from No. 1 Son is unfortunately the latter. The Glaswegians debut single lands awkwardly somewhere in the region of an uninspired Grandaddy. Apply the ridiculously poor production and this gives us the impression that we are listening to a very average band performing on Toys R Us instruments. [Chris Nordeng]
