First things first: as a name for a band, New Adventures is a complete misnomer. Whatever adventures are to be had here, there's nothing fresh or new about them. New single How I Got My Devil Back (Part One), represents an outrageously blatant bit of bandwagon jumping. Here, lead singer Jez Dixon outlines the sad condition that means no matter how hard he tries, all his songs end up sounding like a piss-poor Snow Patrol. Thankfully, only a thousand copies of this number have been produced. As an exercise in OTT melodrama, this really hits the spot. [Pete Ballantine]
