Firstly, can something be cleared up? MCR are NOT 'Emo'. They are not in any way related to the Hardcore sound or ethic and if you don't know what the connection is between Emo and Hardcore then I suggest you get on the internet and find out. What MCR are rapidly becoming is an excellent rock n' roll band. 'Famous Last Words' really is nothing more than a pop song with a slight rasp to the vocals and lots of guitars. It is catchy - the hook riff is straight out of the Van Halen book of air guitar and Gerard Way's lyrics have just the right amount of angst to grip the hearts of their young fans. Image aside, this is safe, glamorous sounding rock and shows why MCR deserve their place at the top of the teeny rocker game. [Jamie Borthwick]
