Me My Head - Night Is On Fire

Gary Numan's Deadliner is a song inspired by nightmares. Although Night Is On Fire is similarly dystopian, it conveys, rather, the impotent outrage inspired by a long queue at the Post Office. This irascible offering from Me My Head, a band whose name apparently owes something to Numan, is a po-faced tubthumper that Charlie Moss’s sullen timbre struggles to enhance with much sincerity. The thick slabs of guitar and new wave pop are by no means offensive, but opaque references to “burgundy wigs and hernias” sound inexcusably camp, even if the old dear in front is taking forever to fill in her tax return.
