Whimsical Bristol trio Let’s Tea Party are being ironic, theming tracks of this double A-side to their titles. Hot Chip, with cowbells, distorted vocals and conspicuous lyrical references to the Over and Over dance phenomenon, relies mostly on this double entendre to gets its kicks. The continental-feeling Emmanuella, on the other hand, misleads the listener with its an ethereal opening, before turning to 80s Stephen Bishop synths and funky bass to complete the pastiche, almost Euro-pop send up. That said, the double hitter is endowed with upsettingly catchy call and response sections and twee lines about grass and introspection, tickling at potential success in crowds that jumped on The Feeling and other such inoffensive pop.
