Kubb - Grow

If I was middle-aged and didn't know anything about music, I would probably think this was ace

Single title: Grow
Artist: Kubb
Label: Mercury
Harry Collier has an impressively powerful and subtly nuanced vocal range. It's a good thing too, because if he didn't then this single would be awful. Grow is all trite lyrics and soaring strings – the kind of thing that's been done a thousand times before by a lot of other bands you don't care about – but the song is saved from total disaster by Collier's surprisingly well-judged delivery. This boy can wail. If I was middle-aged and didn't know anything about music, I would probably think this was ace. [Jay Shukla]
