Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins - You Are What You Love

You are What You Love is, on the first listen, a nice little ditty. All sugary hooks and C&W timing, it bounces along very pleasantly. Behind the sweetness, though, lurks a cynical witticism. Lewis, it would appear, ain't as cute as she seems. The lyrical depth is impressive as she sews the lines together, spinning a clever yarn. The folksy nature of this tune lends itself well to a songstress like Lewis whilst the dreamy backing vocals of the Twins yearn for a time long forgotten. The hype surrounding Lewis has been tremendous, some of it justified. Lets hope there's more to come. [Finbarr Bermingham]
