Grizzly Bear – Two Weeks

Single Review by Nick Mitchell | 18 May 2009
Single title: Two Weeks
Artist: Grizzly Bear
Label: Warp
Release date: 18 May

Grizzly Bear - not the wildly esoteric beast we took them for then. The Brooklyn (yes, another one) four-piece broke on to the international stage with their second album Yellow House in 2006, a collection of ethereal songs that expanded on the lo-fi efforts of founding member Edward Droste’s solo work with a cornucopia of banjo, horns and harmonies. Now Droste and fellow songwriter Daniel Rossen herald a forthcoming third album with the bright and breezy Two Weeks. Built on a stark piano line and meaty drums, its glorious chamber pop falls somewhere along the road between Brian Wilson and The Shins.
