If Rancid are the greatest Clash tribute band in existence, then what is a band that sounds just like Rancid, albeit with English accents? Some kind of full temporal circle pit… Hmmm. Whatever the root, this is pretty satisfying no-frills punk-rock with a healthy proclivity towards ska rhythms and pseudo-pertinent social observations. You know the drill: bouncy riffs, skanking keyboards, radio-friendly aggro, hoarse vocals, dub’d up bass, big shoutalong choruses mostly consisting of the post-“oi” “hey”. There are enough flips and grooves to turn Cocaine Nation into a very worthy first single from a band worth further investigation. All they need is some saxophone and we’ve gone done made ourselves a new Capdown.
