Denied Sons of Iglesias - Brand New Way of Thinking

supplements a reputation starting to grow among gig goers but fails to really set the heather alight

Label: Self-Released
The Denied Sons' self-release supplements a reputation starting to grow among gig goers but fails to really set the heather alight. The confident guitar sound sits comfortably enough in leaning towards the sound of Queens of the Stone Age but something is still missing to propel them into the upper bracket of local talent. It takes until third track Live and Learn before a real glimpse of originality arrives, the central riff really hooking and absorbing the ear. The EP suffers from the odd lengthy generic punk-rock passage and the vocals fail to truly excite - some smart lyrics and rhythmic patterns make up for an overall feeling of apathy more suited to shoe-gazing Indie than Rock 'n' Roll with a pretence of in-your-face attitude.
