Clearlake - It's Getting Light Outside

Emotionally mature rockers walk down memory lane

Single Review by Andrew Monroe | 14 Aug 2006
Single title: It's Getting Light Outside
Artist: Clearlake
Label: Domino
Jeez, when did rock get so… middle-aged? Over-cheesy strings, chiming guitars and a metronomic backbeat, our narrator, lead singer Jason Pegg, meets up with an old school flame and, to his delight, finds that something still burns there. The last time I heard this song it was called Still Crazy After All These Years and Paul Simon was singing it. Still, there's something charmingly optimistic about Pegg's everyguy romantic fantasy, and I wish I knew how the story ended. Maybe teenage kicks aren't all they're cracked up to be. This single is out on July 24.
