Brakes - All Night Disco Party

This is the sound of a summer where everyone puts the Brakes on.

Single Review by Billy Hamilton | 16 May 2006
Single title: Al Night Disco Party
Artist: Brakes
Label: Rough Trade
After the country-punk, hipster baiting of 'Give Blood', Brakes have undergone a chemically enhanced transformation. The luxurious harmonies of All Night Disco Party have been deformed with clinical precision to create three warped masses of electronic entropy. Graham Sutton forges a euphoric Daft Punk ascendancy into the fertile twang of the arable vocals, while Herbert's mix encapsulates the soothing serenity of the early morning Balearics. The skewed vision of Kahuna is truly astonishing; endemically pulsating like a psychedelic drum in a sea of microdots. Contagiously lucid, this is the sound of a summer where everyone puts the Brakes on. [Billy Hamilton]
