The Feuds – EP

Single Review by David Bowes | 23 Feb 2011
Single title: The Feuds EP
Artist: The Feuds
Label: Self-released
Release date: Out Now

Glasgow psych-rockers The Feuds have been gradually making themselves known in the Scottish indie scene since 2007, but their self-titled EP is their first professional output since their inception. Whilst it's a refreshing listen versus the current zeitgeist, it also comes across as slightly dated.

There are elements of early 90s slacker rock and 60s rock’n’roll, with a smattering of post-punk sneer, matched to strong bass-led riffs that have greatly benefited from the crisp production work that has been undertaken.

While both the riffs and the solos are kept on the safer side of technical and Michael Monaghan’s vocals are somewhat lacking in range, for the classic sound that they are evidently aiming for these lads fit the bill quite well. [David Bowes]
