Skandal’s one of London’s new skool producers, falling somewhere between hip-hop, grime and even dubstep. He’s being hyped alongside the likes of Saigon and the excellent Foreign Beggars as a new urban talent to watch. The production’s top class, for sure, pushing out heavy bass manoeuvres, fly vocals and expertly applied effects with a sound that’s distinctly electronic, making it more interesting than your average helping of grime. There are three tracks in all, each with a dub version; the key track is Dark Times, which holds elements of both grime and dancehall structures. The vocals are very 'London', which may limit its ability to appeal to a broader audience, but the man has undoubted talent, and his material is well worth a proper listen. Check.
