Robin Guthrie - Everlasting EP

It is little wonder that his music is so fittingly applicable to the screen

Single Review by Nick Mitchell | 15 Jul 2006
Single title: Everlasting EP
Artist: Robin Guthrie
Label: Rocket Girl

How very strange. A mere month and a bit after he released the album 'Continental', Robin Guthrie returns with yet more material on this four-track EP. Normally, this sort of tactic might seem a tad indulgent, but in Mr Guthrie's case it's more indicative of his current creative resurgence. Without a single uttered word, this little collection of ambient gems runs the full gamut of moods and emotions, and it is little wonder that his music is so fittingly applicable to the screen. A Sigh Across the Ocean is mesmerising in its swathes of minor-key echoes, while the climax to Everlasting would make Mogwai proud. [Nick Mitchell]

This single is out on July 24.
