Album title: My Black Sheep 10Y Anniversary Mixes EP
Artist: Len Faki
Label: Figure
Release date: 2 Oct

My Black Sheep, a track released in 2007 by Len Faki took a surprising turn in popularity for a B-side. Capturing Faki's sound, and the sound of Berlin at the time, it grew and grew in popularity and became an underground hit. With its ten-year-anniversary the sheep has been let loose among the wolves for a collection of remixes from an impressive pack of talent.

First off is Deetron, a Swiss native known for his warm techno, Detroit house sound and impressive basslines – his staccato squelchy bass on this remix complements a woozy vocal throughout. Jimmy Edgar & Truncate offer a dark calypso take on the track featuring a prominent and hypnotic xylophone/marimba sequence, while the Cleric X Remix has an ominous spiritual feel with a bursting 303 bassline. Last up is the Matrixxman Isolation Mix which really encapsulates the dark sound of Berghain, where Faki has remained a resident DJ since its opening in 2004; spaced-out klangs and a filtered driving beat make Isolation Mix a very apt name.

The Cleric Y Remix is an added extra on the digital version of the EP – far from the electro sounds of the previous Cleric Remix, it offers an impressive high energy, pounding and speedy bassline. With an impressive array of contibutors and styles, My Black Sheep 10Y Anniversary Mixes EP is a must for all dance and Len Faki fans.
