iLiKETRAiNS - Sirens EP
Since their inception back in 2004, Leeds-based I Like Trains have carved out a disciple-like following with their brooding blend of pseudo-intellectual lyricism and progressive-indie. Having released their fan-financed sophomore album, He Who Saw the Deep, late in 2010, this six track E.P. will sate their followers with one of that albums strongest picks, Sirens, leading the way (in the form of the original and a duo of remixes), for three freshly forged, unsurprisingly weighty tomes.
The growling bass, stratospheric guitar sweeps and whispered haunt of Guy Bannister ensure that Sirens is the most impressive offering, with A Father’s Son and the slowly unfolding despondency of Flood providing impressively bruising additions; ideal for the fervent fan, though perhaps sunk a little too deeply in I Like Trains gloomy mire for the casual listener.
