Doves Of Disorder - Doves of Disorder EP

Single Review by Austin Tasseltine | 20 Jul 2009
Single title: Doves Of Disorder EP
Artist: Doves Of Disorder
Label: Self-released
Release date: Out Now

Whether unwittingly or not, Doves of Disorder have thrust themselves into the space recently vacated by Sleater-Kinney, albeit in a less-affected and unfortunately less remarkable way. On this evidence, their songs lack the vibrancy and guts of the aforementioned girl group. When listening to this record, three enthusiastic but unremarkable tracks have already jogged past all-too-anonymously before the slower pace and resultant groove of Forget You commands any kind of attention. A scruffy, catchy guitar break in this final number also shows the band are capable of moments of exuberance, but ultimately play it much too safe for the duration of this recording.

Playing Stereo, Glasgow on 22 Aug.
