Various - 'They'll Have to Catch Us First'

This compilation is notably missing anything from band-of-the-moment Arctic Monkeys

Album Review by Paul Traynor | 16 May 2006
Album title: 'They'll Have to Catch Us First'
Artist: Various
Label: Domino
Ever since they started releasing Sebadoh's records over here in the UK in 1993, Domino have been on an upward road to success that has seen them deal with the likes of Pavement, Elliott Smith and a whole load of other reputables. Including fourteen tracks from their current roster, 'They'll Have to Catch Us First' is their latest smattering of what Domino HQ has to offer. It does, of course include the likes of heavyweights Tortoise and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, as well as Franz Ferdinand among stand-out tracks from The Kills, Test Icicles and Four Tet, but is notably missing anything from band-of-the-moment Arctic Monkeys, who gave the label their first UK number one single ever last year. Despite the lack of the Monkeys, this is a sampler for Domino to be proud of, and which will most likely make rival label execs quiver in their boots for the coming year. [Paul Traynor]
