The Perfect Crime - Everything Else Can Wait
Everything Else Can Wait – the debut from Cambridgeshire's The Perfect Crime – is both slick in its production and its overall execution but the sound the band mire themselves in is nothing new for those already familiar with Finch, Thursday and the metallic chops of Thrice and Deftones. That this mixture of the melodic and the distorted isn't startlingly original doesn't mean, in this case anyway, that it's completely lacklustre or boring.
You can tell there is an admirable level of energy and passion injected into these ten tracks – even just from vocalist Adam Mortaro's frequent, burning yells. The album's opening trio of Hailstones, Hounded and Quietly Confident offer up some engaging guitar lines and general atmospherics, freely flaunting their dynamic control whereas Deliver Me Your Sins alone produce some of the album's harder moments. Interesting enough, if not quite essential. [Ryan Drever]
