Roni Size/Reprazent - New Forms2

While no one can deny the power of the originals, these remixes don’t provide anything new or unusual

Roni Size is back with a remix of legendary Mercury Music Prize winner New Forms. Having brought jungle and d’n’b to the masses, you’ll surely be familiar with most of the tracks already. Roni obviously isn’t one to be worried about tampering with perfection, and while no-one can deny the power of the originals, these remixes don’t provide anything new or unusual. The beats are often harder and faster, but unless you are a die-hard Roni fan, this reviewer’s not sure if it’s worth the price of a new album. Roni is simply superb on the decks, and one feels these remixes would possibly be best left for playing live, rather than just re-released. There are of course some new tracks, four to be precise, featuring new single Don’t Hold Back, which is classic dark and dirty d’n’b. We need more of this from the master, rather than remixes of ten year old tunes (no matter how good they sound).
