Planning To Rock - 'Have It All'

an electro rendition of an orchestra pit warming up

Album Review by Caroline Hurley | 15 Jun 2006
Album title: 'Have It All'
Artist: Planning To Rock
Label: Chicks On Speed
Planning To Rock is the one-woman showcase of Janine Rostron, and from the cover art and by reputation, I had expected an experimental, avant-garde Goldfrapp. Instead, this sounds a little like an electro rendition of an orchestra pit warming up, the lyrics are equally impenetrable; nonsense phrases smattered with high-pitched 'yeahs' and glam-rock banshee wails heralding more grief to come. If music can be described as Kafka-esque, then here it is: a repetitive and impenetrable nightmare that you can't think what you had possibly done to deserve. There is no respect for the rules of man, nature or music. The only purpose I can think this might serve is to cause an evil robot to malfunction as it struggles to compute the total illogicality of what it hears. Painful. [Caroline Hurley]
