Album title: A Day In The Life Of A Poolshark
Artist: Idiotpilot
Label: Reprise

Call me conservative, but when I was a kid, heavy music was heavy enough to keep your parents concerned about your mental health. Today, the new hopes of heavy are all deep and shit. The band up for examination is a good example, Idiotpilots second EP sounds as though the psychedelic side of Radiohead has in some way joined forces with 'White Pony' era Deftones. Chuck in some erratic structure changes and they're enigmatic enough to keep the kids troubled. Idiotpilot certainly are competent, and since they've made friends with the likes of Team Sleep and My Chemical Romance they will probably sell a shitload. But it's not scary, at all.
